Therapy Services in Colorado
Whether you need extended, immersive time to process deep pain and family crisis, or steady, ongoing individual therapy at your own pace.
When You Need More Than a Weekly Session
Grief Therapy Intensives
For teens - adults struggling after the death of someone they love.
How We Can Help You
Feel less overwhelmed when grief suddenly hits.
Understand the anxiety, fear, or hypervigilance that may have developed after your loss.
Process parts of your grief that still feel painful, unresolved, or stuck.
Learn how to navigate triggers, anniversaries, milestones, and unexpected grief waves.
Begin reconnecting with yourself and your life without feeling like you’re leaving the person you love behind.
There are also times when one hour a week simply doesn't feel like enough.
Maybe your family is in crisis and you need focused help now, not months from now.
Maybe you've been carrying grief for years and you're ready to finally give yourself the time and space to work through something that continues to feel unresolved.
Or maybe you're functioning on the outside, but underneath it all, you know you're stuck.
That's why, in addition to traditional individual therapy, I offer Grief Therapy Intensives and Family Crisis Therapy Intensives.
Intensives give us a longer, dedicated block of time to slow things down, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and focus deeply on a particular concern without having to stop just because the traditional therapy hour is over.
Together, we can determine whether ongoing individual therapy or a more focused intensive approach makes the most sense for what you're experiencing.
Family Crisis Therapy Intensives
Structured, compassionate, and solution-focused support when weekly therapy isn't enough.
How We Can Help You
Understand what is underneath recurring arguments and conflict.
Reduce cycles of escalation, shutdown, and avoidance.
Communicate difficult emotions and needs more effectively.
Establish healthier boundaries and expectations.
Better support a teen who is struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, or a major life transition.
Create a realistic plan for what happens after the intensive so your family can continue moving forward.
Individual Therapy
Structured, compassionate, and solution-focused support when weekly therapy isn't enough.
How We Can Help You
Identify the underlying habits and beliefs keeping you stuck in anxiety, stress, or sadness.
Learn usable techniques for regulating emotions and managing high-stress situations.
Work through grief, loss, or life transitions in a consistent, steady therapeutic space.
Problem-solve active issues, challenge old mindsets, and prepare for challenging conversations.
Develop the insight and resilience needed to navigate everyday life with greater confidence.
We believe grief doesn’t have to be something you simply learn to survive...
Our intensives offer focused, compassionate, evidence-informed grief therapy in a space where you don’t have to explain why you’re “still” grieving or feel pressured to move on.
Helping people build a life that makes room for both grief and living is at the heart of our work.
At AKHayes Therapy, we offer Grief Therapy Intensives for adults who are struggling after the death of someone they love—especially when grief has begun to affect their anxiety, relationships, sense of safety, or ability to feel like themselves again.
We start by understanding your loss, how grief is showing up in your life now, and where you feel most stuck. Together, we identify the thoughts, emotions, triggers, and patterns that may be keeping you in survival mode. Then, we use the extended time of an intensive to focus deeply on the areas that need attention without having to stop when the traditional therapy hour ends.
You don't have to wait until you're falling apart to get support.
Book a free consultation today, and we’ll talk about what you’ve been experiencing, what you want to work through, and whether a Grief Therapy Intensive feels like the right next step.
We believe a family going through a difficult season doesn’t have to stay trapped in cycles of conflict, frustration, and disconnection.
We start by understanding what is happening within your family, what has led you to this point, and what each person needs. We identify the patterns underneath the conflict and create clear priorities for our work together. Then, we use the extended intensive format to slow things down, address the issues underneath the surface, and practice healthier ways of communicating and responding to one another.
At AKHayes Therapy, we offer Family Crisis Therapy Intensives for families who feel like something needs to change, and weekly therapy may not feel like enough time to address what is happening.
Maybe communication has completely broken down. Your teenager is struggling and you don’t know how to help. Every conversation turns into an argument. Someone has shut down completely. Or your family has experienced a major transition, loss, or crisis and no one seems to know how to move forward together.
Our intensives offer structured, compassionate, and solution-focused support designed to help families move beyond putting out the latest fire and begin addressing what is actually driving the conflict.
Helping families find their way back to communication, understanding, and connection is at the heart of our work.
Sometimes meaningful change happens gradually.
Our sessions aren't just a place to talk about what happened that week.
They're a place to better understand yourself, recognize patterns that may no longer be serving you, develop practical tools for managing difficult emotions and situations, and begin making changes that carry into your life outside of therapy.
Individual therapy gives us the opportunity to meet regularly, build a strong therapeutic relationship, and work through what's happening at a pace that feels manageable for you.
I offer individual therapy for adolescents and adults navigating concerns such as grief and loss, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship and family stress, and feeling overwhelmed or stuck.
Some weeks we may be processing something painful.
Other weeks we may be problem-solving, practicing new skills, challenging an old belief, preparing for a difficult conversation, or recognizing progress you didn't realize you were making.
The goal isn't to create a life where nothing difficult ever happens.
It's to help you feel more equipped to handle the life you're actually living.
